Joint Partnership

The firm was established in 1981 by Harry Schoombie who practiced as a sole practitioner for twenty years. On 1 February 2001 his daughter, Elma Schoombie joins him as a partner and Schoombie Auditors is established.

The firm has grown since and currently serves a wide range of clients. The partners are assisted by dedicated technical and administrative staff members.

Harry Schoombie

Partner

Harry matriculated in 1961 at the Hoërskool Riebeeck in Randfontein. In 1972 he obtained a certificate in the theory of accounting from UNISA and the following year passed the Public Accountants and Auditors Board’s Qualifying exam. His articles were completed at Glass and Arenson in Randfontein. For the next seven years he worked as audit manager at Vosloo and Lindeque.

He accepted a senior lecturing position at UNISA in 1975 in Advanced Financial Accounting and Advanced Income Tax. He left the academic life in 1981 in order to concentrate on the practice of auditing, accounting and taxation. He obtained his certificate in Deceased Estate Practice from UNISA in 1999.

Elma Schoombie

Partner

In 1989 Elma matriculated at Hoërskool Voortrekkerhoogte in Pretoria. She obtained her B.Com Hons degree and CTA at the University of Pretoria in 1993 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995. She completed her articles at Price Waterhouse in Pretoria.

In 1997 she pursued a corporate career with Standard Bank as a project accountant in the Group Financial and Secretarial Services Division. Later that year she was transferred to Standard Bank’s Card Division as Manager, Financial Development. In 1999 she joins H G Schoombie Auditors in the position of Audit Manager and became a partner in 2001.
